Meet Thelma Wells
Founder & CEO, A Woman of God Ministries

Wells is a trailblazer for African American women, a prominent international speaker and author, and a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a student at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas (now the University of North Texas), she was a member of the first group of girls to integrate the school’s dormitories. She earned her Bachelor’s degree there and eventually received a Master’s of Ministry from Master’s International School of Divinity in Evansville, Indiana. In 2002, she became the school’s first African American female professor.

In 1980, Wells became the first African American woman in the South to organize her own international speaking and consulting corporation. Her natural talent for public speaking and storytelling attracted the attention of the Women of Faith Tour, and in 1996 she became the first African American core speaker for the organization. She has authored several books, including God Is Not Through With Me Yet and What These Girls Knew –How Girls Back Then Talk To Us TODAY. She serves as the president of The Daughters of Zion Leadership Mentoring Program, an organization she founded in 2000 (another first for an African American woman). Through this ministry, “Mama T,” as she is affectionately called, has mentored over 100 spiritual daughters. In addition, selected Biblical Counseling Keys in Russian received the coveted 2002 “Best Christian Book of the Year” award. She is also the recipient of Women In Christian Media’s “Excellence in Communications” Award for 2008.

Catherine Clark Kroeger is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. She teaches Classical and Ministry Studies. She began working towards launching the ministry’s Marketing Department and although not receiving a formal education in marketing, God began to uniquely prepare her for this ministry. Over thirteen years later, LWF is broadcasting on over 2300 radio and over 11,500 television networks and outlets, as well as their website, lwf.org ─ which averages about 400,000 visits per month with almost 50% of them as new visits. In fact, every country on the globe has visited the site except for 8 countries! In July 2010, she assumed the role of President and COO, spearheading the organization’s strategic planning and implementation of their multi-channel communications.

God has readied her “for such a time as this” to assume this strategic position. Cathy also served on the NRB Internet Committee since 2004 and has been a speaker at Internet workshops at several conventions. Her desire is to continue to do as Peter reminded us “that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to Whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever.”
